there was a previous post "crashing back to desktop" but i thought id start a new thread as noone had anything intelligent to contribute on that thread. It is essentially the same problem . i can work through the initail menus, but as soon as i attempt to launch a training scenario or random map or whatever, it just goes to the desktop with no errors. My specs: AMD 1.33 Athlon, Asus A7M266 mobo latest bios loaded, 256 PC2100 DDR Ram, 30GB 7200rpm ide quantum HD, Hercules Prophet II MX with 64MB (ref nvidia 12.83, also tried 12.81 hercules drivers), have tried directx 8.0a and tried 8.1, os winMe.have also tried primary display drivers and direct 3d with tnl all to no avail. i am inclined to believe its software related as my system can handle much higher calibre games than this. Besides, when did sierra ever release a title that didnt have probs

Try turning down your desktop bit depth, and see what happens.

thx but that didnt work either but i'll tell what finally did get it to work!!! i uninstalled the latest nvidia drivers and installed the old 12.41 drivers from the nvidia ftp site. Bang , worked 1st go! obviously the rumours of problems with geforce2 and durons are extended to the athlons as well. it would appear that sierra obviously pushed the game out before it was really tested, but hey im not interested in pointing fingers, it would just be nice if i didnt have to change drivers everytime i play a different game. wonder how long it will take sierra to fix this one. prolly as long as it has taken sierra to fix the UE errors in tribes 2 LOL
