Wow! What a spectacular scenario. wpbiro has tackled a challenging task and has come out with a scenario that is a masterpiece. This is well-researched. The map is laid out well according to land of Middle Earth with only relatively minor deviations that were necessary for the scenario to work. The graphics are beautiful and the scenery is stunning. Triggers are plentiful, and the scenario is action-packed with a story to match. It is breathtaking to watch the battles of Minas Tirith and Helm's Deep, or the trek of the Hobbits across Mordor up mount doom, the assault on Isengard, the flight of the eagles, etc. from different perspectives following the characters with the period key in epic zoom mode or from a distance.

A tremendous amount of work into this, resulting in an enjoyable and very playable scenario.

There are some deviations from the LOTR story that wpbiro has candidly acknowledged in an itemized list in the scenario instructions. This is to be expected as I believe it would be impossible to depict all LOTR events in a single scenario without some modification to accommodate the limitations of Empire Earth. Nonetheless, it is masterfully done.

Criticisms: 1) later in the game, the number of eagles multiplies dramatically. My population went from the 400s to over 1000, largely due to new eagles being automatically created, in a short time. There are way too many eagles. Fortunately I have a fast computer, but for those with slow platforms, this could really slow down the software and could lead to rapid overload in a scenario already loaded with zillions of units. The eagle creation rate should be slowed down to one-tenth or less of the current rate. 2) The triggers have to be done exactly in order or sometimes they won't work right. However, if you follow the scenario instructions, I think it's okay. For example, I won the game by killing Sauron without ever making it to Mount Doom. In another game, my Hobbits went up mount doom and nothing happened, no triggers were set off. I took one point off playability for this, otherwise it would have been a perfect 5.0.

In spite these minor limitations, this is the best scenario I've ever seen for Empire Earth. Very, very cool. Great plot, largely true to LOTR, but with some ingenious originality as well.
