Description
Base map: Continental Base terrain: Desert Number of players accepted: 2 to 8 Sizes available: All Starting units: Standard units, but the Capitol is replaced by a Tent.
Resources
No fishes and no berries ;
Resources are in the middle of the map ;
Few scattered animals ;
Trees are scattered around the map and there are a few forests in the middle of the map.
Map description
Deadland is a Continental-based map where all the resources are in the middle of the map. There are no resources around your base and you start without a town center(a la Nomad).
There are plenty of trees scattered around the map and a bigger concentration in the middle of the map.
Of course, you should hurry up and get to the DeadLand as soon as possible. No military units inclued since this would make it too easy for a player to go and attack another and kill all his villagers.
Installation instructions
Extract all the files to your Empire Earth folder, they will extract themselves into the appropriate folders. To play it or use it in the editor, go in the Random maps list and chose Deadland. To play it online, all the players must have the Random map on their computer.
Known problems
The lack of food can easily destabilize people and you should play it a couple of times in single-player to test it ;
The Computer player might have some problems playing it due to the lack of Capitol ;
In the smaller maps, some resources could be missing if you are playing with too many players. |

Well, I have played a fair amount of Empire Earth, and I thought that I could handle any of the random maps that shipped with the game… however, this RMS made me think long and hard about my possible starting strategies.
Upon starting a game using the Deadland RMS, the first thing you will likely notice is your lack of a Capitol. In fact, you lack any sort of buildings, save for a tent, which serves no purpose other then as a placeholder. Upon first glance, this might seem very much like a Nomad-style map… until you notice the nearly complete lack of resources around your starting position. All iron, gold, and stone (along with much of the wood and food) is concentrated in the central area of the map.
This setup makes the action begin early, and fights for control of the center dominate. Indeed, the player who can control the center of the map gains a huge advantage against his or her opponents. If the game is started in a later age or one anticipates an early attack, it is almost impossible to win if the center is not captured ASAP.
This RMS offers a huge number of new and interesting strategies, all which vary according to number of players, map size, starting resources, starting epoch, etc… the fun factor is very high, judging from the games I played. The map design is very nice as well, with a lot of varied and interesting terrain that is sure to grab your attention.
In fact, the only real drawback that I observed was that gameplay seems to be oriented solely towards capturing the center of the map early on. The person who grabs the center controls 90% of the resources, and in doing so has a definite upper hand. This could potentially create some balance problems, although it certainly leads to some fierce skirmishes early on.
Overall, this is a top-notch RMS script. The author must be commended for his ingenuity and creativity, and I would certainly recommend this RMS to anyone looking for a new and unique EE experience. Just be sure to remember: the center is the key! :-p |

This map is crazy, only 2 Hippos for food, u can play this map only with High recources, the problem is High Rec isnt standard so that map should be fixed in food, no berrys in game isnt that great... |

I play a lot of rms games, and this one has got to be one of the best i have ever seen. It has a great concept, with somewhat of a role you have to play. The fun never stops with this game. I liked the space that was provided in the map for battles and skirmishes. The starting resouces around you are perfect, and if you run out, theirs plenty more when you start to dominate the map. i really liked this one and would recommend this download in a second. |

This was initially a tough map cuz the lack of food, but my 2 hippos bred a few more and after staving off some initial attacks from my 2 a.i opponents, i was able to establish a stronghold and eventually gain the uppet hand. The terrain is good, deadland is appropriatley named, the only thing i dont like is the canned square land base surrounded by water, just needs some variation along the shorelines |
