This is a nice map. I rate the playability as high, and the scenario does a good job, in many regards though not all, of simulating a beachhead assault.
Getting off the beach is not an easy task, though it just takes concerted effort to accomplish it. Enemy defenders do a good job of defending against the attack by the player position. Carnage is everywhere, and virtually nonstop.
For creativity, I rate the map a 5, because I really feel the author was very creative in making this map. I detected no trigger bugs, and even though you get a continuous flow of reinforcements, I did not notice any slowdown on the computer I played it on.
The map design is excellent, and the author made good use of various units and terrain features, including barbed wire, walls, and hills, to good effect in making the assault harder than would otherwise be the case.
The replayability value of the map is brought into question, because once your commandos reach the fortress, the game ends. If the player had to capture German officers, and return them across the sea, and if there were additional German counterattacks at that point, then the replayability value might cause the playability score to be pushed into the 5 range.
Rating the map design as a 4 or a 5 was a hard choice, but I opted to rate it a 5, because it was a decent scenario, and the author obviously knew what he was doing, and put a lot of effort into the map design. The map would have been a 5 without question, if the author had incorporated sea power and airpower as greater factors in the game. I had fun playing it, so I opted to go ahead and give it a 5, even though others might give it a 4, in this area.
Also, the author might want to consider adding a few extra German machine guns along the front line, and toughen up the tank units. I did feel that the tanks were too easy to kill. The pillboxes were tough, as they should be, and were a very nice touch, as was the use of artillery and mortars by the Germans. The tank barriers wee also a very nice touch, and added to the feel and atmosphere of the map. The artillery and mortar explosions killing my troops were also well done, and increased the challenge factor of the map considerably.
If you haven't downloaded and tried this map, then I would recommend that you do so. It is an enjoyable scenario, especially if you have never tried it before.
Congratulations on a job well done, and I feel that the author has the potential to make maps that rival anything I have seen, if they will just focus a tad more on the details. This is one of the better WW II era type scenarios I have played, as of yet. |

Playability: 4
Pretty fun. Charging the enemy lines was cool....could have used side objectives though.
Balance: 4
The enemy was tough, but needs MUCH more men and stuff in the middle... :) thats where i killed it.
Creativity: 3
Pretty cool...but this idea is not new...
Map Design: 4.5
Very nice....lots of details and stuff....
Story/Instructions: 3.5
not much of a story, but easy to play
Additional Comments:
Overall it was fun and great idea...but I beat it my first try in 7:58 min F11 with only 437 losses...you jsut have to know how to do it.
The good thing is i will probably play it 2 more times at least...nice sounds too...i had those same sounds in one of my scens.....

Playability: 5
(It's a nice map to play i still play it.
and i'm able to play it on my old slow computer so that's scores high with me)
Balance: 5
(Theres a excellent balance here.
sometimes you win by storming the beaches and sometime the pillboxes and artillery really gave you a mad face.
i have to say that i hadded trouble with the trenches,i needed 60 minutes and maybe more to clear it!
however you have a never ending army so that's actually a sad thing for the enemy but hey...it's the ENEMY!!!)
Creativity: 3.5
(the coolest thing for me was the never ending backup of marines so you don't fail or have to ship them all to the beach so this gets a better score then map design )
Map Design: 3.0
(It's not the best map however i liked the airfield in the end and the beach was cool but....it's just another d-day storm the beach map so i gave this a low score, sorry...)
Story/Instructions: 1
(Nothing special to say)
Additional Comments:
It's a cool map to play, but not the best map im sorry.
However i still play it when i want to storm that beach and kill a lot of germans.
