The Siege of Acre
The Conquest of Jerusalem
The Defense of Rhodes
The Battle of Bapheus
The Nicene Creed
The Battle of Antalya Bay
Mesud II, king and commander of the Seljuk Beylik, has begun his war to dominate Anatolia. Where Osman failed, and his Ottoman dream withered, Mesud raised a scepter for a Seljuk empire. The Seljuk Beylik was largest of the Turkish provinces, and with Osman reduced to the role of a lesser prince, Mesud could lead the Beyliks without internal opposition. Mesud declared his war in earnest, laying siege to the Kingdom of Armenia, and to the Byzantine Vassal State of Trebizond - both Christian nations
Mesud fortified his position in the Mediterranean. From the coastal fortress city of Antalya, Mesud commanded his army to garrison the many islands of the northern Mediterranean Sea. Unlike the Ottomans, the Seljuk Beylik built a massive navy, agressive, and faster than their Christian counter-parts. For the Christian navy, their primary advantage was in superior firepower - and they would need every shot to count
King Amalric of Tyre, commander of the Levantine Kingdom, dispatched a naval force to the waters between Cyprus and Antalya. With the aid of his brother, King Henry II of Cyprus, the two Christian nations would begin a campaign against Mesud in the Mediterranean. The objective - to conquor the Seljuk garrisons, defeat the Seljuk fleet, and clear the harbor at Antalya. If the Levantines could accomplish this, Mesud's position over the Kingdom of Armenia would weaken, and his naval presence would be greatly diminished

Playability: 4.8
Definitely up there as part of my favorite scenarios from Altec Tek. Play HARD if you are a Masochist!
Balance:4.5
There are a couple of triggers that can be improved upon (the constant spawning of Seljuk battleships near the port, the seemingly endless waves of Seljuk ships), as well as the predictability of where the enemy spawning points are can be revisited. Making it random and tied up to player popcap will make this scenario top-notch tek!
Creativity: 5
A solid 5. The world building of this series lends well to gameplay.
Map Design: 4.0
I really had to deduct a full point on this tek. The islands are fine and good, but the narrowness of the seas in between multiplied a hundred-fold the clumsiness of EE ships' pathfinding. I already commented before and I will comment again buddy: if ever you make another sea scenario, make it the largest maps you can make. Those captains need the room to manuever! :D
Story/Instructions: 4.8
Clear cut instructions, and very helpful hints. Deductions for the inexistence of a storyline while island hopping. That's what I actually missed compared to the Nicene Creed (wherein the protagonist recited the Faith).
Additional Comments:
Great work tek! Keep 'em coming! |
