The third scenario in the Levantine Campaign

The Defense of Rhodes follows the events in The Conquest of Jerusalem and previously The Siege of Acre. The Levantine Kingdom, now with it's power consolidated in the Levant and surrounding areas, having made peace with the Mamluk Caliph's contingency in Alexandria, is called upon to aid her Byzantine ally.

The rising power in Anatolia is Osman I and his Beylik based east of Constantinople. However, in the year 1300, Osman I has not consolidated the Beyliks into the Ottoman Empire yet. The other Beyliks are also vying for power and intend to expand their influence among their fellows.

The Beylik of Mentese, located on the southern shores of Anatolia, is a stone's throw from the Byzantine island of Rhodes. In history, the Byzantines lose Rhodes to foreign powers, but in this alternate history campaign, the Levantine Kingdom answers the summons of the Byzantine Emperor.

This scenario is loaded with triggers and should be a lot of fun for players. Balance is easier than previous installments

Supporting different difficulty levels, this scenario will keep you on your toes.

Balance: 4
You should really tie up AI's attacks and forces based on the player's military pop, tek. The scenario becomes a grind since a lot of the action would take place at sea, and you know how EE's pathfinding in the water is. Giving it a 4 since I know you'll revisit it. Also, a suggestion: once the flagship is destroyed, the continued ship attacks on the docks must stop. Almost all of my popcap was in ships, and at the end of my push, I barely have 3 dragon ships left. I had to reload since I don't have enough ships to defend my docks. Playing on Hard though.

Creativity: 4.5
Continues the narrative, with game mechanics that support it.

Map Design: 4.0
I feel that the island could have better terrain variation and terrain mix. Still a solid map.

Story/Instructions: 4.5
Straight forward and clear with the objectives.

Additional Comments:
I really hate EE's ship pathfinding! *angry face*

Thank you for taking the time, Shield!

The file is updated with the following changes

- Player starts with marginally more gold and iron
- Player receives two (instead of one) tribute from the Levantine Treasury
- Enemy assault spawns are now slightly more staggered, with the suggested conditions being added (player 1 population, and enemy flagship existing)
- Some minor additions to terrain
