Different civilizations test (a complete version coming soon)

Needs AoC?: Yes
Hey everyone

if you ever felt that an usa and a russian marine having the same textures was a bad idea, i got the solution;

It is actually possible to change textures and their stats, depending on the faction.

This is a very simple file, just a test. Creating whole new factions takes time and ideas. but it's a start.
The files of this mod make it that if you choose the "united states" civilization (or the market power in custom civs), the marine will change it's texture.

Test it, and maybe bring ideas, why not
New marine texture from Atlas' marine mod

Ps: if it doesn't work, maybe i missed a file, so let me know
Pps: The mod uses db files. If you are using another mod that needs them, make a backup. Warned you eheh
Ppps(they never end): you NEED aoc. It uses civ powers.

This is just the start :p have fun

Expect updates in future; by the time this was approved i made improvements, and im finishing a 6 civ ancient age mod :p
bradley877 This is fantastic! Just changing the texture gives us millions of possibilities for many different civilisations. Good work. If Marine exists... maybe Marine - Snow, Marine - Desert, could also be invented... having Desert Units, Snow Units, for the different environments. Empires: DOTMW had some Desert Units in the Scenario Editor for the Patton Campaign in Africa.

Im currently making a mod based on ancient times(greece and persia etc) by doing what this mod did :p
I can add the different marines like you said, the only problem is ai will use each of them in maps (can be solved in scenarios)

But yes it's possible :p expect the ancient mod soon (plus the time of approve)

PS. i wrote that on slack too, this comment is for other users too xd
alexey this in a great tool or a great contribution to relive this wonderful title, but I have a question, how did you do it? and more important ahun, how do I do to do the same as the American marine?

Hey, sorry for the delay in the answer

I'm not sure how to explain this in an easy way but i'll try ahah

It requires the program "DBeditor" by Forlins: with that, you make a new unit in dbobject, linked to a new texture in dbgraphics, a new tech in dbtech, and a new button in dbbuttons;

After that, comes the hard part: you need to use the civ powers (AOC edition); you make the power tech in dbtech, a new event in dbevents linked to that power (some civ powers already have tech+event, some don't), and a new effect in dbeffects which basically says "change the marine to the new marine IF market power is chosen"

Eventually you make a new name in language.dll, and and a new effect which says "if market is chosen, change marine 2 name to usa marine"

I tried my best sorry xD eventually i'll add a tutorial in my upcoming mod

That said, i'm about to submit a complete mod based on ancient civs (greece, persia, etc) on moddb, because it's too big for this site. I just need to find out why it fails to upload
alexey I appreciate that you explained it, I almost understood it, but I prefer to wait to see your finished work to know better how it would look and how did you do it without saying an incredible mod ... maybe you can relive the game? The question is to which future are we going? to one better or worse? ... By the way? Any suggestions regarding programs that open the files you mentioned?

Thanks for the words and the trust in the work :p

I'm currently in a group that tries to improve the game with new features, you may find it on github (empire earth reborn), and hopefully this will lead to a better future.

About the programs, it's just dbeditor (it's in the forum last messages), "xn resource editor" for the language part, and eventually the textures/models (i cant edit them, i used those from forum mods)

Final thing, this is my mod based on the civs: https://www.moddb.com/mods/empire-earth-ancient-warfare . Sadly i cant yet upload it because the site gives some error, but you can see how it looks :)

Sorry for the long text
