The scenario takes place in Italy, during the years 1494 to 1559, at a period historians call the Italian Wars. This war involved most of the city-states of Italy, the Papal States, most of the major states of Western Europe (particularly France and Spain), as well as the Ottoman Empire. Originally arising from dynastic disputes over the Duchy of Milan and the Kingdom of Naples, the wars rapidly became a general struggle for power and territory among their various participants, and were marked with an increasing degree of alliances, counter-alliances, and regular betrayals. This is the atmosphere this scenario hopes to re-create.
This has been intended as part of Empire Creation's "Europe at War" campaign. Created at around early 2010, I owe a heap of thanks to the awesome guys at EC, particularly Talknight, Soty and altec tek for devoting time and effort in playtesting the original scenario, which I know was at that time, a very very difficult one (according to Talknight, "unwinnable").
This version, however, has been extensively playtested by me (on hard difficulty) within a one-month period.
The file includes a full-fledged Strategy Guide to help newbies and veterans alike to win this very challenging scenario.
>>> Note on Version 1.5:
Since the AI in this scenario is active, it is similar to playing a random map in that the AI has all freedom to either attack you or not earlier in the game. The seasonal attacks that are trigger-based are made every 30-game-minutes interval, so that any major attacks by the AI, especially during the early minutes of the game, is purely the AI's decision. To counter that, I have put a limit on AI's population, made some adjustments on AI attributes, and gave out a cheat code that spawns you 10 to 20 knights.
>>> Note on Version 2.0:
I put some enemy towns in Tunisia, Corsica and Lower Lyon. Added pirate raiders too.
>>> Note on Version 2.5:
Unit renames, alliances checking on support as well as a few extra events (among others) have been made.
Thanks to altec tek, aquril and spearhead for the reviews and feedback! Enjoy! :) |

Man, I don't know how many times EEH community members have made me feel special. :) It's those heart-warming comments and feedback that make scenario designers like me keep on designing. With that said, thank you very much spearhead. :)
Now, on the comments you've given
- Films: I have procured copies of both Flesh and Blood and Altriste. Now, me and the wife would have both of those films in line.
- Glitch on difficulty: I honestly didn't know that. I was talking the other day with tek regarding some bugs when playing Venice and taking Lyon (the scenario just crashes), that I told him that maybe, we should make a list in the Forums and sticky it, for other scenario designers and players to be made aware of these bugs. I'll definitely put that in my To-Do list.
- I'll try to see why Player 8 gets attacked by the other computer players. They're supposed to be allies all throughout the game.
- Unit names: I could only think how much this scenario will be better, if you were there, spearhead, during my creation of p&p in 2010. Yes, all of the renames will be done, in time for version 2.5.
- Seabed: You got me there. :) My maps can't compare to the masterpieces made by soty, or raksum (go check that lad's recent submission in the utility section), and one of my weakness is the seabed. I may actually do what you suggested! Hehehe... First though, please give me a link on a map where we can clearly see the seabed elevations... :P
- Priests: I was quite sure I put those priests there, but I'll re-check. And yes, the allied support is in the form of resources for the most part of it.
- "Cheater" and other chats: I placed those chats to warn the potential cheater. Since the Alliances section is not fixed, the player could alter the alliances of neutral players. I made it so that changing the alliances of the Market Player for example will result to the cheater chats. I think this happened when the all out war came (and after the French attack following the capture of Milan), wherein the computer players become all enemies vis-a-vis to player 1. I'll see what I can do to address this.
- Pending scenarios: Haha... Believe you me, I am not the only one who has half-finished scenarios waiting to be uploaded in EEH. I have, as my last counting, at least 7 scenarios more. One particular scenario I am certainly excited about is my adaptation of Lord of the Rings (RPG-like, branching storyline, etc.) but right now, I don't have the time to finish the all the 10 or so character plot lines in there. Also, we have Soty's scenarios whose maps are excellent, and which Soty is yet to upload one. I hope you are reading this Soty, so upload those scenarios now! Hehe...
Again, my thanks to you spearhead, and to previous reviewers, and to the EEH community. |

- After you watch those films make sure you line up “Agora”. Not relevant, but another excellent film I like to promote.
- Regarding what you said on the difficulty message glitch; I took out the French three times, one of them was while paying the venetians too. It never crashed on me.
- Seabed, good hunting: http://www.ciesm.org/marine/morphomap.htm
- priests; never saw them, really!
- “Cheater”: those chats came up way earlier than the “total war” event. Very early; as I was playing Spain, I had just crossed into Italy when those chats came up. Same with other factions.
Also:
- Regarding how buildings change ownership when the player builds them and then he has to select them and chat ‘x’: I noticed a little side-effect regarding the farms, 2 out of 9 that I built at some point turned out to have the full 3000000 output on, as opposed to 1000 only.
- I am playing now v2.5 with Spain, my favorite faction, and the names of Spanish infantry and cavalry had reverted back to their defaults (while the altered names of Galleases and knights were still on). My guess is that EITHER that is another little matter the loaded saved games don’t seem to like regarding some triggers, OR that the relevant renaming triggers didn’t go off because in the beginning of the game I escaped the cinematic. Check some triggers: military buildings were available from the beginning and I could train as many… Cromwells as I chose!
(Addition to answer the comments bellow: Military buildings and Cromwells WERE available from the very beginning of the game. YES!!! Apparently it is a bunch of glitches that come and go randomly, particularly on my computer and EE installation! Only worry about them if more players report them. Those warrior-heroes came handy. At 500 prestige, and as the French were about to get -randomly- beaten, the game crushed on me for the first time but I then loaded again without problems).[Edited on 06/18/12 @ 05:26 PM]

Cromwells! Also, the military buildings being available in the beginning too... Those shouldn't happen. You play a saved game buddy? I'm beginning to think that a saved game doesn't function well on games that have been heavily triggered. tsk tsk tsk[Edited on 06/18/12 @ 12:54 AM]

i checked the file, and so far, it's okay. for the renames you should wait for at least one unit to be owned for the rename to function. i think that the glitch is because of loading the saved game. |

whoaaaa... no worries joker. :)
first, have you extracted the relevant files? the folder you just downloaded is zipped, so you need winrar, winzip or 7z to unzip it.
second, you put the files to Empire Earth's data folder, which is located inside your installation directly. put the extracted .ssa file to the Campaigns folder. |
