~~~Empire Earth Heaven Presents:~~~ ~~~A Cinematic Cutscene Demo and Tutorial~~~
The purpose of this scenario is to showcase a fraction of the cinematic capabilities that are possible with the EE editor, and to hopefully give you a good foundation for making your own.
You should watch the scenario through, making note of the use of camera angles, speed, etc. Once you have watched the cutscene, load the scenario up in the editor and see for yourself how it was done. Full description are included for all effects and triggers, so it should hopefully be easy to follow.
To install, extract the scenario file to your "Empire Earth/data/scenarios" folder. If EE is installed in the default directory, the full path will be "C:\Sierra\Empire Earth\data\scenarios".
This is the one area that this movie lacks in. The map is a random map, and the events are rather random themselves. Although it is a great tutorial, it doesn't really have any sense of story, and the events and scenery are a little too random.
The creative use of camera is inspiring, not only the views shown but the incidents themselves, like a huge flock of birds, a submarine firing torpedos etc. This scenario should inspire everyone to new ideas with camera positions and cinematic content, or at the least inspire them to learn how to make them.
Visually the cinematic is very good. The map design in the background is a little bit contrived and lacking any particular theme, but the events make up for it. Watching a tracking shot of a plane made me think I was in a flight sim, not an RTS.
The scenario is presented well, not only giving inspiration, but also instructions on how to replicate these cinematics. Open it up in the editor and have a read.
Overall one of the best utilities we have. You simply can't make an article like this, because an article is static. A must download for any serious scenario designer. A shame Rasher wasn't able to make anything else for Empire Earth before he left so long ago.
