THis is my first scenario so don't expect to much from it but i love to read reviews...
The scenario begins with the thirteen day siege of fort Alamo during the Texan war of independance. Defend the town until your last man, the object is to kill at least 225 Mexican soldiers. |

Well you said not to expect too much, so I didn't. On the same token, don't expect great ratings either.
Playability: Was fine, albeit nothing really interesting. You basically made sure your hand cannoneers were protected in the rare event the Mexicans actually do get inside of the fort(Which was only when my guys happened to 'open' the gates on accident, darn Texans!). The Mexicans barely, if at all, used their cannons when they brought them. They sat there and was picked off by my hand cannoneers. During the whole scenario the Mexicans barely were able to scratch the surface as far as breaking down the walls. On top of this, I never saw a victory screen. I killed many a Mexican and even waited around for another 3 minutes or so. I eventually took men out of the fort and went around killing idle Mexican troops and cannon who didn't react at all to their men dying.
Creativity: The idea was there, but just wasn't executed well. A fort, some men in the middle and some other men attacking them, well sort of attacking them.
Map Design: Very small map and lots of grass in the fort. Unless I missed something in history class, I don't remember grass being prevalent inside the fort. The fort layout was okay and worked for the scenario.
Story/Inst: Very little here. A small note telling you what you need to accomplish. No background story either.
The map could of been a little bigger and the Mexican AI needs to be beefed up for this scenario to be a challenge. Right now there is very little interaction needed for the player to beat the Mexicans. |

Playability: This was fun to play, at the most part and unlike most first scns had movies. there were a few bugs but other wise this was ok.
Creativity: Very good idea with the Alamo and stuff. And nice useage of triggers. But it could be improved example: when the last wave comes, blow up the Gates so they can storm in.
Map Design: this is funny, your first scn and you have alreadu begun to blend terrains to make them look really good job here. The Mission (Spainish Cristian Church Thingy) was very nice too.
Story/Inst: Well alto this did lack History it did give you your Mission straigh forward and gave you some nice hints.
Overall: Great first scn.
Note: i don't know if this was fixed version... but looked like it cause it had end movie. |

Overall this wasn't a very good scenario. Where are the barracks, the mounted cannons, Bowie, Crockett, THE ALAMO itself!
Creativity: I enjoyed the waves of attacks. The mixed terrain gave it a nice, comfortable setting. I liked the church on the hill with the trees. Hmm. bads...The Alamo wasn't present! Also, the Civs were just Human, Computer 1 and Computer 2. I loved the idea of using the doughboy, very nice! very small map ~ok~
Playability: it was too easy. The doughboys are still far superior to the elite guards.
map design: The terrain was a nice mixture! I liked that. I havent had a good rep on EE but I hope to improve that. You are well on your way to great scenarios!
Story/Inst.: there was really nothing more than You are travis leading the Army. There was no history but, it was sort of thrown in with the Inst.
Improvemants Suggested: Make the map bigger! Increase the strength of the Elite guards, make the Alamo bigger so that is is hard to defend, Make it 1,000,000 to 1! Create Civs for Mexico and the Revolutionaries. Add more instructions, hints, and history, Put more heros! It is Fort San Antonio not Fort Alamo, The Alamo was our San Antonio church. And, finally, try adding the Alamo! |
