Second Review for me XD......I noticed that this scen has no comments.....so here's a reviewwith comments!
Playability: 4.2
A very playable scen, although rather short. Defending against assault is always a classic concept. Although it seemed rather easy in the very beginning and rather difficult at the abrupt end (rather too abrupt). It was great getting the occasional reinforcements to back up your army and deciding where to place them. The dialogue added a much needed extra element too, I love seeing scens that use a fair amount of dialogue and conversation. (Extra points for the RC bombs, even though I didn't get to use them.)
Balance: 3.2
At first it was almost too easy, I had to do little to keep my troops aliveand my base defended. The ending assault was a whole different story however, it seemed nearly impossible, although I did not try the RC bomb method. The balance could have used considerable work.
Creativity: 2.1
There is little creativity here, the concept is a rather traditional concept used throughout many scens, which is perfectly fine, but it was not implemented very well. The mechs all seem to be clones of each other with little diversity and the scen just seemed to be slightly neglected. I found quite a few misspelled words and a trigger glitch. (The reinforcements tanks were smaller than the already placed tanks.)
Map Design: 3.1
Overall a fairly decent map. I liked how you used the shallow marsh ponds and the idea of the fort being built on a hill. The base doesn't seem to be much of a base however, lacking a lot of features like more structural fortifications and the buildings were very few.
Story/Instructions: 2.7
There wasn't much background information, just enough to realize the situation for the scenario. The spy seemed to be the main character in the briefing, yet there was little said by him except for the intel and the ending strategy. The instructions were few, although it didn't take much to figure them out. The options were presented to the player in the end, which gave a sense of diversity.
Additional Comments:
Overall a decent scen, with some high points and low points. Worth looking at if you're really into "defend your base" type scens. If you're looking for a nice long game of different type it might be better to pass this up. The scen had potential, but there was little work to bring out that potential.
Good luck with your next scen. I look forward to reviewing it :). |
