Build and Destroy |
Needs AoC?: |

The scenario is based on terminator wars. But it has its own story. After the machines are taking control on the planet, they are starting to build up their forces while bombing the human cities. Your mission is to evacuate 2 cities in the area and eliminate the hostile bases.
I think there are anough troops, aircraft and tanks to win this game without building anything, but first you need to know what are we talking about, if you wont use the forces fast enough and if you wont combine them in the situations you may need more troops, thats why i placed resources you can gather.
I think this is a great mission!
You have lot of options to choose from, you can capture the enemy slave bases and get the resources from there. You can capture the millitary base in the middle of the map.
You can even use the secret weapons i have placed in the game. But be careful of the machines, they may look easy to be beatn... but trust me they arn't.
Hope you will enjoy it!
(I have placed sounds in the game so it will be even more exciting to play this 1). |

Playability: 2
I jumped head first into this immersive scenario, and I was immediately impressed with many things. I began by taking my cargo trucks to the base as I was told - this brought me a message confirming I had completed my objectives. Looking through the instructions I found I needed to bring an engineer to the Command Center, which also resulted in a dialogue and which even bordered on a small cinematic. The next goal was to get fuel, which I managed, but I also received a message around the same time that I had failed in this, which was quite confusing. I carried on with the main objective, battling against the machines. I kept pushing, but I couldn't gain any ground against their superior technologies and massed/powered up AA/Lasers.
This was the dreaded combo I faced in the last EE scenario I reviewed, battle for time. This time I felt the scenario was much better and I tried hard to find some combo that could beat them, but there was nothing capable of doing any damage that I could find. I assumed that something had gone wrong, so I restarted after a 2 hour battle.
On playing again I tried again to defeat the enemy capitol, this time I noticed I had those 3 planes, but before I could bring them under control one was shot down. I teamed the second and third, and tried to use them against the buildings, but I realized they would be useless as they were fighter-bombers. Their attack against buildings was too low to survive the AA gun fire, and the laser towers still prevented any land assault, so I was back to battle for time again. However my Anti-tank helis, which I noticed were one of the upgraded weapons, were able to take out the capital. Sadly this didn't achieve anything, as I had hoped it would.
I couldn't figure out what my goal was then, so I gave the map the Asus Drivers treatment, which luckily worked. I saw another capitol further back in the base, and mounted one last attack on it, but all my planes were shot down. I don't really know if this was the "HQ" I had to destroy. It seemed far too hard to finish so I have given up.
If you’d want I’ll play the mission again, but you’ll have to update the campaign with clear objectives, and I don’t want to have to battle towers and AA guns for hours on end.
The dead units remaining often makes for a nice visual effect, but the lag from a screen of smoking rubble didn't justify it.
Balance: 2
Again, I don't like to just 'give up' on a scenario, but it was the combination of masses of uber towers and AA guns that ruined it. Even if it is possible to get through them somehow, it didn't seem at all so. In battle for time I could use Missile towers to tear through the masses, but there were just so many and I couldn't be bothered. Here there were less, but still far too many. If you must make the enemy have a strong base at least use a realistic amount of towers not stacked upon each other, and give them higher stats to make up.
You made a lot of changes to units’ stats, but this is not the simplest thing to do because it throws the carefully created game balance off. By increasing the stats of selected units greatly it makes almost all non-improved units redundant. The towers and AA guns in particular had far too many upgrades.
Try to make the challenges more of a puzzle or the enemy more intelligent rather than relying on overpowered or massed enemy units.
Creativity: 4
Very creative - an interesting and dynamic scenario, with music, dialogues, and unique objectives like getting the fuel from the sunken buildings area. Visually it was very unique, and the story was interesting, although a little underdeveloped. Use of a mod was great too, that terminator marine was awesome!
Map Design: 4
Right from the beginning it looked impressive, and made a great first impression. The map was mainly a dark grey/brown terrain with dead trees, set at night. The deep blue water made a strong contrast and looked really nice. The sunken buildings at the bottom looked really good too.
The map design can still be improved a lot - there are a few messy looking things - dead trees too bunched (use them in smaller groups as they are too repetitive and have rough looking graphics) massed towers stacked side by side look unrealistic, rock terrain doesn't go well used with the brown cliffs, and some terrains are in big in patches, use the smallest brush size for painting the terrains.
Story/Instructions: 3
The story was good but needs to be fleshed out a bit. The instructions do not explain your main goal well enough, and a more understandable map could help out with this too.
There were some spelling errors in the instructions again. Use a text editor (spell check).
The sound effects were a nice addition again. You may need to work on getting them to play better though - I don't remember hearing them all. Certain effects stop sounds from playing, e.g. start cinematic and sending messages. Also the sound is no use if it is drowned out by the other natural sound going on at the same time. The looping ambience in the background was quite good, but seemed a little repetitive. Maybe use 2 or 3 loops with a bit of randomness in their order.
The scenario is zipped well with a good variety of extra files. This is good to see - the bitmap also looks quite nice. |

It was an awesome map. however i played for like 1 hour before i realised that this map was unbeatable. even with the constant respawn of those black robes i was still losing i mean this is nano technology against modern tech how do you plan to win. the answear is you cant. I think you should make a trigger where you can send a spy to an enemy building and if he get's there he can steal some of the mechine tech for you and i also think you should not make their aa and towers so powerful i mean really your tower's arnt powerful only their's. |
