Everglades 2, by James Robinson 2.4.2002
Everglades 2, like Everglades, forms a lowlands environment, or a marsh. It doesn't derivate too much from the original Everglades, with the exception of a totally reworked resource & land placement. Everyone now has plentiful resources, as I have finally kicked the tree problems square in the teeth.*
Place Everglades 2.rmv from the zip file into the "SierraEmpire EarthDataRandom Map Scripts" folder. If Everglades 2 does not show up as a map type that you can play, then you have placed the file in the wrong directory. Everglades 2 operates as a single script file, and does not need any other files to operate.
Players Supported Per Map:
Tiny: 2-4
Small: 2-6
Medium: 2-8
Large: 2-12
Huge: 2-14
Gigantic: 2-16
Normal games won't let you have more that 8 players, but i'm sure that in the near future, there will be a MOD that will enable more. ..on top of that you can specify up to 16 players in the scenario editor.
This is a beta1 version of Everglades 2, but I will likely not update it again unless I find a horrible error, or the script is causing crashes or both. If I can fix my North Sea problems, then I'll release Everglades 3, which will include several dozen other features that I've been wanting to implement. Look for a nomad version of Everglades any time.
...I'm trying to avoid turning this into cheesy horror flick by realeasing 5 sequals, but there is so little info on random map scripting, that by the time you have fixed one thing, you discover something new you can do to make it better.
*Everglades one had some tree issues, Everglades 2 has only one, and it isnt all that serious. In Everglades 2, on huge & giagantic maps, there is a 1 in 32 chance that you will spawn surrounded by a thin ring of forest.

Ive been playing this map alot more lately. It is covered with marsh, shallow water and lots of Forest. This makes it hard to turtle which is good and also hard to find all the spots in the rivers that are shallow enough to cross. This forces you to stay alert as attacks can come from unexpected places.A navy can play a small or big part in this map depending on what a epoch you are playing. Overall this is an original map and I hope the author continues to make more. |

this map looks very good, its like saltmarsh from aok, the ground of the map is great, the starting place need a little more room, but the rest of the map is fine (maybe more even spots) |

OK short and sweet here....
I love this map. It is great.
But!!!!!..... (yikes i hate to complain)
Same as almost every other "random" map.....
every resource and food supply is
at my doorstep when I start the game.
What is so random about that?
Not much need to explore and colonize
the rest of the map.
I like the greenery and the way pathways
develop as the game proceeds.
Paths that must be guarded and fortified.
And the small rivers and lakes throughout the land
are interesting and lifelike.
I play this map all the time and enjoy it.
Thanks,

had some of the most fantastic sea-to-land bombardments using this map! There are large, unconnected lakes of water near player start points so it's fun to conquer the area right outside an enemy base, build a naval yard to build nuclear subs, and shell the enemy. |

For single play it's really big fun.
This is a random script you have to download. |

Additional Comments:
Very challenging and very fun. It's tricky finding out where your units can and cannot travel accross the water and where your ships can and cannot travel. Really makes a fun and challenging map! |
