So I've been thinking of getting Empire Earth on GOG, but wanted to get a demo first, just to see what it looks like.
But then it says I needed to get DirectX 8 (or 8.1?) in the readme file. I didn't take the initiative though, and decided to just play it anyway, but then the game doesn't respond and I was forced to do a force restart, since I couldn't exit the game - I mean, the cursor didn't appear when the menu loaded.
So is that problem kinda related to not getting DirectX 8? I got DirectX versions even later than that, but nonetheless, do I need to download the 8 or 8.1 versions to play the game and ensure it responds unlike the first time?
(If I posted this in the wrong topic, then it's okay to move the thread to it's proper place - I apologize in advance).
EDIT: Also, if I have to downgrade to the 8.1 version, does it mean it'll overwrite my later version, and I have to keep downloading the later versions to play other games? Just curious.
